It’s your most valuable asset, so the person you entrust to sell your home needs to be someone who’s going to perform, tell the truth, and achieve the best results.  Often you get what you pay for, so if you go with a “cheap and cheerful” agency, you may find yourself overlooking things that will reduce the market appeal of your home and reduce the price you would have achieved.

I can recall one instance where I achieved $118,000 more for a house next door to a similar design that sold a few months with an out of area agent. In most cases, you’ll do better with a local agent who knows your area, works in it and can sell its benefits. You’ll also do better with an agent that doesn’t have thirty other listings.
